Gertrude was born in February 1939.  Gertrude's father was Johannes (John) Kangas and her mother was Kathleen G Furby.  Her paternal grandfather was Nicholas Kangas and her paternal grandmother is <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were William  A Furby and Syble I Peterson. She has a brother and a sister, named Allen and Margaret.  She is the oldest of the three children.

Gertrude and Orrville were married on May 10th, 1957.  They have five sons and a daughter, named John , Orville, Michael, Frederick, William and Cheryl A.
