Betty Jean was born in April 1934.  Betty Jean's father was Albert Peppiatt and her mother was Zadah Bell Day.  Her paternal grandparents were Jesse Peppiatt and Clementine Leflin; her maternal grandparents were Ory Day and Lizy Day. She had a brother and three sisters, named Kennith Leroy, Mary Lou, Yvonne Mae and Joanne E. She has a half-brother and a half-sister, named Carl Lynford and Helen.
